Noella Upitis was born in Scarborough, Ontario and now makes Stratford her home. Her formal training began at the Ontario College Of Art and Design and continued later at the University of Guelph.
Upitis’ work addresses the environment, attachment, a sense of place and the interplay between realism and memory. Her landscapes draw upon the Canadian winter in rural areas focusing on trees in their dormant state.
Painting abstracts for Upitis engages the dialogue between emotions and intellect, as well as the contrast between reality and fictional narratives. Depth and vibrancy of colour are often present.
Upitis is a dual career professional in education and art.
