Alex Wilson is a Canadian glass artist with over a decade of experience working in molten glass, creating sculptural and decorative works that explore movement, transformation, and materiality. A 2012 graduate of Sheridan College’s prestigious Craft and Design program, Alex developed a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary glassblowing techniques.
Her professional journey spans from production work in a glass factory to independent studio practice and international residencies. She spent five years at The Red Barns Artisan Playground as an artist-in-residence where she taught classes, created exhibition work, and contributed to a vibrant community of makers. Alex also performed live glassblowing demonstrations for international audiences at a world-renowned casino in Macau, China—a role that deepened her skills and passion for public engagement.
Alex owned and operated a flameworking studio in Guelph for ten years, where she produced a wide range of sculptural and decorative pieces while teaching classes and developing her personal voice as an artist. Most recently, she worked at an eco-resort in the Maldives, using recycled glass to create art and teach visitors about sustainability through creative practice.
Driven by curiosity and a deep respect for the medium, Alex’s work captures the tension between fluidity and form, often drawing inspiration from the natural world and the inherent properties of glass itself.
