Nature’s majesty, rural Southern Ontario and rugged Northern Ontario are the inspirations for Annette’s original paintings. She grasps the beauty of a moment in time with her landscapes and floras. Annette grew up on a farm in the Owen Sound area and spent much of her childhood roaming the forest and escarpment near her home. In this picturesque location her observation of the uniqueness of nature developed.
Annette is a graduate from Fanshawe College’s Graphic Design Course. After several years in this field, she decided to concentrate her energy in the production of her original paintings. Annette has a studio north of London near Granton. This tranquil rural setting and her garden provide her with a wealth of subject matter. Many trips to the solitude of Northern Ontario, with its harsh beauty, also have dominated Annette’s rock and landscape paintings. Annette works mostly in watercolour, she also crafts pieces in acrylic, printmaking and pen and ink. Annette uses photography to capture her painting images and she also displays and sells some of her photographs. She loves the influence of light and shadow on simple things and how they compose breath-taking images. Annette applies this love of light in her new work as a fused glass artist. This new venture has helped her to express more abstract images in glass panels and functional pieces.
Annette is a regular member of Stratford Art in the Park.
Annette’s works of art are included in many private collections in Canada, USA and around the world. Her wonderful pieces are available from her studio near Granton by appointment.
