Jacquie van Klaveren evolved as an artist through her interest in spirituality and the joy of creating. She completed an Honours B.A. in visual arts at Western where she was able to use various media and techniques. On her spiritual journey, Jacquie recognized the importance of honesty in art. She reflected upon and processed her inner-most thoughts about life, loving and faith without holding back. Her process begins with sketches, photos, and meditations created from time spent in nature.
At times pieces of stone, wood, or metal are adhered to wood panels representing figures and parts of landscapes, while other works are created with layers of colour and dremeled wood. Some paintings illustrate a single idea or moment in time from a natural environment while others show a figure engaged within the landscape. Her work is described as personal narratives. van Klaveren lives and works at her home studio in Woodstock, Ontario.
