Pottery has been a love for much of my life and a constant companion in one form or another – classes, workshops, personal endeavour or dream. I am a member of the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop and the London Potters’ Guild as well as the London Clay Art Centre. My studio is in Mitchell, a quaint small town just west of Stratford. I work in both handbuilt and wheel-thrown stoneware, in decorative and functional ware. In my handbuilt pottery, I enjoy exploring sculptural forms featuring lyrical and graceful lines that look great against any backdrop. I am currently exploring the look of Japanese or medieval armour, with overlapping lines that evoke the limited articulated movement of plate upon plate, but also the protection offered by a hard carapace or shell. My belief is that functional pottery can be sculptural, beautiful, evocative and graceful.
